Make it easier to reorder cards, maybe with a card sorter / slide sorter / tiled grid layout
Paul Helmick
It's neat to be able to drag a couple up and down in the sidebar panel when they're not too far away, but when you have 60-70 cards and you want to reorganize a bunch of them, it'd be cooler to have a thumbnail view (8 cards across, 5-6 cards down) where you can just drag and drop groups of them to reorganize them quickly.

Améliorer les présentations
J
Jacques Amar
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Thanks for the super clear suggestions, Jacques Amar. I’m going to pass both to the team.
Quick couple questions so we nail what you mean:
1) For the “see all slides and move them” part, are you imagining a grid view (like thumbnails on a full page) with drag and drop reordering? Any example tool that does this well for you?
2) For video comments, do you want those to show up as picture-in-picture overlays in the exported MP4, or more like clickable video notes tied to specific slides (and if so, should they export too)?

Mover diapositivas a posición
Nacho Espino

Totally hear you, Nacho Espino. Once you’re past ~25 slides, drag-and-drop reordering gets real tedious. Love the idea of a right-click “Move to position…” for a selected slide or group, and thanks for the screenshot, I’ll pass this to the team.
Quick couple questions so we design it right:
1) When moving a group, should it insert starting at position 12 and keep the group’s internal order the same?
2) Do you mostly want this from the thumbnail sidebar, or also from within the slide/canvas view?
Nacho Espino
Nik Payne (Gamma design) hi and thanks for your answer! As I imagine it, it should work as if you cut and paste the slides. You select one or a group of slides, then right click, select "Move to position..." and then enter the slide after which the group will be placed, thus first slide of the selected group end as 13 slide of the presentation. Hope this helps you :)
Nacho Espino
Nik Payne (Gamma design) 1) Yes, it keeps the order the same. 2) For me is enough with the thumbnail sidebar, but you decide :)

Nacho Espino: Thanks!

Slide Sorter View
Prasad S
Enable Slide Sorter view for Gamma Presentations and Websites. It's too cumbersome to scroll up and down for arranging and structuring. This was raised/discussed loooonnnng time back and yet to see any implementation. There is no point is waiting for upvotes to build basic/essential features - which should have been originally built on your own without waiting for someone to request and upvote.
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Totally hear you, Prasad S. Reordering by scrolling up and down gets old fast, and yeah a slide sorter feels like table-stakes for structuring.
I’ll pass this along to the team. Quick question so we build the right thing: when you say “slide sorter,” do you mainly want a grid of thumbnails for drag-and-drop, or would a collapsible outline list (with multi-select move) also solve it? And is this pain mostly on longer decks/sites (like 30+ slides), or basically anytime you’re doing structure work?
Prasad S
Nik Payne (Gamma design) Thumbnails with multi-select option for sure. Collapsible outline is not particularly useful when the work is in progress. Not having a slide sorter is a pain always (it doesn't matter how many cards are there in a deck/site). Btw, one request, can you expedite building this at least? The responses have been accumulated, but we have not seen any progress until now. Btw, these are basic features provided within a design platform. I don't see a point in waiting for upvotes for every request to prioritize what should be built.

Grid Sort for Cards (similar to Slide Sorter in PowerPoint)
Prasad S
Please include a "grid sort" for organizing cards (similar to Power Point and Canva). It's difficult to use Filmstrip/List to scroll vertically up and down to arrange the cards. Especially, when you have plenty of cards. It's really irritating.

Thank you for your quick revert. Any card that's not visible on the filmstrip is a pain. In my 13-inch monitor, I see just five and half slides in the filmstrip (List View is not really helpful while the work is in progress as you will be chopping and changing). Would like to have drag-and-drop reordering and multi-select + moving whole sections at once.

Prasad S: thanks!
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Totally hear you, Prasad S. Once you get into a big deck, vertical scrolling to reorder cards gets old fast. Thanks for the screenshot and the clear PowerPoint/Canva reference, I’ll pass this “grid/slide sorter” request to the team.
Quick couple questions so we build the right thing:
1) About how many cards does it start feeling painful for you (20, 50, 100+)?
2) In a grid view, do you mainly want fast drag-and-drop reordering, or also stuff like multi-select and moving whole sections at once?

PowerPoint-style grid view for better overview of large presentations would be SO unbelievably helpful for folks to reoder/sort presentations.
