Improve version history
D
David Beaty
I find it very frustrating that I am not able to work on a "gamma" and save it, so I can go back to a previous version. Please let me know when it will be possible to save versions and track changes. thank you

Track Changes Mode
Angelika Szalek
Track Changes Mode: If persons collaborate on one document it would be helpful to have a track changes mode. Meaning: Person A sees changes of person B. Person B can decide wheather person B wants to accept or decline changes made by person A. This would be very helpful in collaboration use cases and be a nice add on to the comments function.

Totally hear you, Angelika Szalek — a real “track changes” / suggest mode would make collab way smoother than trying to piece it together from comments.
Quick Qs so we build the right thing:
- Are you imagining Google Docs-style “Suggesting” (edits are proposed inline, then accepted/rejected), or more like Microsoft Word with a full revision list?
- In your workflow, who should be able to accept/decline (doc owner only, section owners, anyone), and do you need per-change accept/decline or “accept all from Person A”?
If you’ve got an example doc flow (or a screenshot/Loom of how you’d want it to look), I can pass that straight to the team.

Tracked changes for collaborative editing
Z
Zach Baumstein
Problem:
When multiple people collaborate on a Gamma doc, it’s hard to see what actually changed from one version to the next. Version history shows that something changed, but not what changed, where, or by whom. This makes reviews slow and forces teams to manually compare versions or rely on side conversations to understand edits.
Why this matters:
In collaborative workflows, especially for client-facing or high-stakes content, clarity and accountability are critical. Without tracked changes:
*Reviewers can’t quickly validate edits
*Feedback loops slow down
*Mistakes or unintended changes slip through
*Teams duplicate effort trying to explain or re-review work
Proposed solution:
Add a tracked changes / suggestion mode similar to Microsoft Word or Google Docs, where:
*Insertions, deletions, and edits are visually highlighted
*Changes are attributed to specific collaborators
*Reviewers can accept or reject changes individually
*There’s an option to toggle tracked changes on/off
Impact
This would significantly improve collaborative editing by:
*Making reviews faster and more precise
*Increasing confidence in version-to-version changes
*Reducing coordination overhead and side-channel communication
*Making Gamma more viable for team-based, professional, and client-facing work
Tracked changes would be a major usability upgrade for teams that rely on Gamma as a shared workspace, not just a solo creation tool.

Too many versions make the version history not so useful. Takes ages to find the right version I want. Plus, it is all or nothing. Either i restore the whole or nothing at all. Not possible to copy a card from the history, in case that's all i need.
Suggestion: Allow users to SAVE their gammas and when they do, show these versions in BOLD. Like that, they can easily refer to the ones they have in mind, at various milestones.
(plus allow to copy a card from the history and show which cards were hidden)

Need ability to name version snapshots
Jay Sampath
Currently the version snapshot history has date and final. Natural workflows would have named _v2, _v3, _FINAL , _FINAL_FINAL. There is no option to name version snapshot or add notes to snapshot.

Hi Luis Dámaso C.M., you can restore different versions in the version history: https://help.gamma.app/en/articles/11048579-can-i-undo-a-change-or-restore-a-previous-version-in-gamma

Title: Inquiry about Gamma's version history feature

Michael Carter
Hi everyone! Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there a version history in Gamma so we can go back and see when a Gamma was edited and by whom? (I did a keyword search in here and couldn't find anything about this.) Thanks in advance! :raised_hands::skin-tone-3:

Would like the ability for named versions in version history, so I can go back and find a particular edit or version like Google docs.
