Improve text highlighting behavior

When choosing a text background color, text becomes auomatically black and loses its former color. We should keep the chosen color or be able to change the text color while keeping a chosen text background color.

Thanks Henry. We change and lock the text color for speed, but maybe we should optimize for control in the future
