Improve card headers and footers

Tom Flatt
when placing a footer with "centralized" location, it does not stay centralized when adding an accent image on left or right. it moves away from the center. That is not good for presentations. Please amend it.

Footer control not available in Plus membership
Orkun Oz
First of all, I gotta say, I've been constantly raving about how great Gamma app is to everyone struggling with creating captivating presentations. I do get there are membership tiers in your app. It makes sense given increase AI token usage of your pro users. But putting something as trivial as changing a slide footer or header behind a 2nd paywall is unacceptable, and dare I say, a moneygrab a la Scrooge McDuck

Page Numbers

Need to be able to put page numbers on cards for documents. Even word let you do this in 1998.. Lets get moving with the times Gamma, I love you but we need this for documents.
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Orkun Oz appreciate you saying that, and yeah I hear you. Locking something like header/footer control behind a higher tier could be frustrating.
I’ll pass this along to the team, but quick gut-check so we capture it right:
1) Is your main need removing the Gamma branding, or just customizing your own footer text (page numbers, date, company name, etc)?
2) Is this for every slide by default, or do you need per-slide control too?
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Also, I led design on the feature. Will pass along to the team
Orkun Oz
Nik Payne (Gamma design) Thanks for the quick feedback, Nik.
1) my main need is to add my own company logo to the footer/header.
2) I wouldn't need that much granular control. Presentation-wide customization would be pretty much enough for most of my needs

Nik Payne (Gamma design) Hi, it is mainly for documents so when you present them or they have to be signed that page numbers assist in forming that agreement. Header and footer could be a great tool for branding too, eg logo on each page etc. I think its either a header / footer on every page or no pages, a little un-necessary for only 1 page I feel. Within gamma would be better rather than just print or export if possible.
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
ALso—you can add card numbers using "card headers and footers" which you can find in page setup or the card styling menu
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Totally hear you Martin Ayles. Page numbers are table stakes for anything that’s meant to be printed or shared as a “real” document, and I’ll pass this to the team.
Quick couple questions so we build it the way you need:
1) Do you need page numbers in export/print only, or also while viewing in Gamma?
2) Should numbering be per doc (1..N) or restart per section, and do you need options like “Page X of Y” or just the number?

Creating "white space" only where logo is added. not for the whole page
Tymofii Tyshchenko
Im trying to add themed logo to the presentation to the bottom.
When i add it, it create unnessary white space at the top as well which doesnt look good at all.
It would be nice to be able to choose not to create empty space (that you cannot do anything with) in places where logo isnt actually located.

Feature Request: Per-Card Footer/Header Element Visibility Control
Duncan Johnston-Watt
Add the ability to show/hide individual footer/header elements on specific cards while maintaining a uniform theme-level footer design across the presentation.
Current Limitation:
Footer settings are applied uniformly to all cards in a document. Users cannot selectively display different footer elements (logo, text, copyright, page numbers) on different cards.
Requested Feature:
Maintain theme-level footer design and content
Add per-card controls to show/hide specific footer elements
Example use case:
Display only logo on title slide, but show logo + disclaimer + copyright on all content slides
Business Value:
Professional presentations often require minimal branding on title slides but full legal/branding information on content slides
Currently requires manual workarounds (adding footer content to individual cards), which defeats the purpose of theme-level consistency
Common pattern in corporate and investor presentations
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Totally hear you, Duncan Johnston-Watt — this is a super common “real presentation” need. Theme-level footers are great until you want the title card to stay clean but still keep the legal stuff everywhere else.
Quick couple questions so we can spec it right:
- When you say per-card control, do you want a simple preset (e.g. “Title slide footer: logo only”) or a per-element toggle on each card (logo/text/page #/etc.)?
- Should the hidden elements still reserve space (so layout doesn’t jump), or should the content area expand when you hide them?
If you’ve got an example deck (or a screenshot/Loom) showing the exact title vs content slide footer pattern you’re aiming for, that’d be super helpful — we’ll pass this along to the team.
Duncan Johnston-Watt
Nik Payne (Gamma design) Hi, three scenarios spring to mind:
- If I set up footers/headers for my presentation but opt to only provide footers then the space reserved for headers should be freed up.
- Likewise if I chose to hide footers/headers for a given card then the space reserved for footers/headers should also be freed up.
- Finally (and most importantly) when I switch from "All cards" to "This card" in the Cards headers & footers popup dialog I should at the very least have the option to hide individual elements inheritedfrom "All cards" rather than simply be given option of making all of them invisible.
Regarding 3, it may be better to be allowed to edit all the elements for a given card rather than just disable some of those inherited. However, to do this I imagine we'd need to explicitly request this by deselecting a default "Inherit from All Cards" checkbox but that is a refinement that is probably not needed in majority of cases??
Duncan Johnston-Watt
Nik Payne (Gamma design) one final comment re (1) and (2) is that given the number of presentations that have been created on the basis of the current behaviour maybe releasing the space is something one opts into as part of the Cards headers & footers popup configuration?
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Duncan Johnston-Watt Thanks. Super helpful!
Duncan Johnston-Watt
Related issue is that if you disable the footer/header for e.g. title slide you don't have access to the slide "real estate" that would be taken up by this in order to position the logo bottom right to achieve the same effect until this feature is implemented
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Ahh yeah, that’s a super fair callout — adding a footer logo shouldn’t force a bunch of dead space up top.
Quick couple questions so I can pass the right details to the team:
- Are you adding the logo via a theme/branding setting, or just inserting an image onto the card?
- When the whitespace appears, is it in Present mode, Export (PDF/PPT), or both?
If you’re up for it, a screenshot (or quick Loom) showing the before/after + which layout/theme you’re using would be clutch — helps us see exactly where that extra padding is coming from.
Tymofii Tyshchenko
Nik Payne (Gamma design) im doing it via theme/branding settings. its in default mode even when simply edditing.
as you can see, when logo is at the bottom, the top of the slide is forced toa lso be lower (because, i imagine, when i add logo somewhere it creates borders on the card everywhere, not just int he bottom)
