From Community: Struggles in Creating Dynamic Diagrams with Gamma
Britni Borrelli
I'd love to be able to have Gamma build dynamic diagrams that are visually compelling, but I can easily edit or move around. For example, I used chatgpt to build the first screenshot which is much more creative but it's absolutely wrong and affecting the change was...annoying at best. And the image looks like an inappropriate butterfly... I know you see it too.
I then moved it to Claude, and it followed directions so much better but even still, it was painful as hell! Like probably over 100 prompts to get it to this stage and even now, I can't move an object on my own.
I asked claude to help me write the best prompt/directions for gamma to build a diagram and it was probably too complicated of directions. Anyway, here's what it built: <https://gamma.app/docs/AUTONOMOUS-REVENUE-ENGINE-wgffwbzlcezrmbe>

Hey! I'm not using any of the other tools, yet nothing has hit the mark yet. If AI could just read my mind and design a diagram about what I'm trying to visualize, we'd be golden. But alas, AI isn't a computer chip in our brains...yet. When I talk about moving objects, I mean in Claude or Chatgpt. I can clearly move them in Gamma but Gamma (at least in the way I prompted it) doesn't build me a visual diagram. It wants to make a presentation. In my ideal world, I'd like to be able to prompt Gamma with a concept to visually illustrate in a one pager. To bring ideas to life in a way that's complicated but easy to follow for others. I don't think in one dimension, I think in too many, but that's ultimately what I'm trying to visualize in the cleanest, clearest way. And since AI doesn't get it right the first time, I need to be able to easily move things around or update text that it renders incorrect.

Britni Borrelli haha yeah I see the butterfly. Thanks for the super detailed writeup and the link, this is really helpful. I’ll pass this along to the team.
Quick couple questions so we can pin down what “dynamic + editable” needs to mean for you:
1) When you say you can’t move an object, what exactly are you trying to move (a box/node, connector line, a whole group), and what happens when you try?
2) In your ideal world, is Gamma generating a diagram as real editable objects (drag/drop, snap, auto-route connectors), or is it more like “generate an image but let me tweak layout/labels after”?
If you’ve got an example of a tool that nails the editing experience (Miro, Lucidchart, Figma, etc), drop it here and what specifically it does better.
