From Community: Enhancing Creative Quality in Gamma Presentations

I just got out of some school presentations where they utilized Gamma to create their slides & though they got it done. I feel like because they put in low effort with Gamma it generated a in consistent and cookie cutter presentation that instantly looked like gamma and I would call this AI Slop. Just in the sense of low effort put in. My question is 1. how do you stop this? 2. I want to be able to make it so slide shows are not so easily determine to be Gamma as well as create better more creative backgrounds. 3. Can we import our own custom icons, layout objects, so things can be more stylized?

Totally hear you. When people phone it in, the output can end up feeling pretty same-y and “obviously Gamma,” which is not the vibe.
A couple quick questions so we can pass something actionable to the team:
1) What are the biggest “tells” that make it instantly read as Gamma for you (backgrounds, typography, spacing, icon style, layouts)?
2) When you say “stop this,” do you want guardrails that push users toward more originality, or just more control/customization so high-effort work can look unique?
3) On custom assets, are you mainly looking to import your own icon set, reusable layout blocks/templates, or full-on design system stuff (colors, type, components)? Any example deck/tool that nails the look you want?

Nik Payne (Gamma design) first the blank colored background with the same placement of items, as well as the fact that everything is in very controlled sizing makes it very blocky (could use some canvas functionality). Though this blockiness can be exactly what you need at times so maybe another options, adding in something to not have such constraints over the elements would be perfect for customization (freely resizing images & moving elements in the space, this could even be after first render and on re-render it goes back to blocks but this type of control would change everything) . Cause when I think of say power point you can notice who is using a template and who really took some time with it to customize and give it the feel to execute and tell the story. (when i say stop this, I mean what are your guys plans to change this sentiment) 3.) Google slides has some cool extensions for this like Slides Toolbox, Slide Library. I would also love to import my own template assets as well, this would solve the too gamma issue. It would be an extreme ask and update to turn this into a full on design tool for all the assets but that would be amazing or if the ai could create you custom ones. (sorry this is so long, but love that you guys are always working at it, this is what keeps us around)
