Font sizes are too small
Raul Alfredo Tello
A presentation is not always projected on an appropriate screen, often available walls and even on a smart TV are used. In these cases, having an appropriate font size makes a difference, this could be added to the card configuration, I think that the option available in this regard is not enough to achieve an appropriate display of the content of the presentation.

Minimum Font Size as a Funtion

Gamma is often producing slides with a Font size below 14 even if there is enough space on the slide. For me it is feels random what kind of font size is used. Sometimes its working quite good. Change the setting in the page setup does also not work. Is there a function where you change font size for all slides? I attached an example were the font size is really small

Deck font is way too small

Has anyone at Gamma ever given a presentation? I mean, seriously - you can't put a ton of text in a small font on a slide. This is not how a presentation should look like. Nobody can read that, and nobody wants to read a ton of text when someone's giving a talk. I just don't understand how such weird product decisions are made at Gamma. It's presentations best practices 101 - don't place a lot of text on the slides. It's not a paper, it's a visual aid.

Avoid size 8 font...think more like 18 and up... I often go through the slides and enlarge the font, taking advantage of lots of white space. ...but this is excellent technology. Keep up the improving work!

inclusive, isto atrapalha na hora de editar o slide em um programa como power point. Esse problema acontece com qualquer texto gerado nos slides pelo Gamma. o Tamanho global deveria ser no mínimo 14 ou 16.

Thanks for the screenshot and the super clear writeup, Rene Nachtsheim. Totally get how annoying it is when the font size feels random and dips below what’s readable even when there’s space.
I’ll pass this along to the team. Quick couple questions so we can pin down the right fix:
1) Is this happening mostly when Gamma is generating slides from pasted content (like tables), or also when you’re manually editing text blocks?
2) When it goes below 14, is it usually a specific element type (table text, captions, body text), or basically anything on the slide?
And just to confirm, what minimum size would you want as a global setting (14, 16, etc.)?

Totally fair callout, and sorry the default deck typography is making your slides feel unreadable. I’ll pass this along to the team. Quick couple questions so we can pin down what “too small” means in your setup: 1) which theme/template were you using and what kind of content (bullets, paragraphs, tables)? 2) where are you presenting (in-app present mode, exported PDF, Google Slides, etc) and roughly what screen/room size?

Nik Payne (Gamma design) I've built a presentation using Gamma about a year ago, and the font issue was really annoying back then as well. I was hoping you've figured this out by now, since I want to extend my talk soon. I checked out your templates now and came across one that seemed appropriate - "Code-Inspired Slides for Dev & Tech Decks". Looking at the template, it's clear to me that its creator has never, ever, given a technical talk, and I seriously doubt they've ever seen a half-decent technical talk. Just look at the text in this template - is that amount and size appropriate for a presentation? Is that the best you can offer?
I'm annoyed by this because I was hoping to use Gamma again, this time with a better experience than on my previous attempt (which required way more work than getting the same results with google slides or powerpoint). Seeing this template made me realize that I'm stuck - using Gamma again will be tedious, and using another tool will be a waste of all the work I've invested in my Gamma presentation. And the most annoying part is that the issues I'm talking about are product issues, not technical ones. They're old and they're fixable.

Eran Gilad: Would love to pick your brain on this more! Please grab some time on my calendar if you're interested:
Font sizes in Gamma are kinda complex. We have a base size in themes, s/m/l in page setup, a 'scale to fit' option that shrinks fonts as you add more content, and we do some shrinking at export time—so figuring out how to solve this has been a bear.
We're a small team doing our best, and this problem hasn't been prioritized but it's on our radar. But you can help!

Also, can you explain a bit more what you mean by:
> the templates with colors are not followed
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Hey Sophie Bertin, really appreciate you taking the time to spell this out. That’s a rough experience, especially after you’ve been recommending Gamma.
When you say the quality dropped, can you share 1-2 concrete examples so we can pass something actionable to the team?
1) What kind of doc/deck are you generating (topic + language), and what specifically looks “mediocre” in the output?
2) On the templates/colors not being followed, is it picking the wrong palette, changing colors mid-deck, or ignoring your chosen theme entirely? If you can paste a prompt + a screenshot of what you expected vs what you got, that’d help a ton.

Nik Payne (Gamma design) thanks for your response.
So, the recent decks and websites I was generating were poor in the sense that the text was way too small (despite me putting that I want a larger text), and the text was cramped in the middle of the page, no images. Really not comparable to versions I had couple of weeks ago.
Then, when trying to improve the quality, despite the AI working on it, I kept receiving the same result or results which were not good.
Then, for the colour template: I spent time creating a custom colour template. But when I use it, I'm getting other colours that I do not want, so I have to manually adjust the colours. Waste of time and more importantly - why doesn't it stick to the given colours?
And then, some meanwhile basic functionalities not possible: like embedding a chatbot etc.
So, while I really love Gamma, right now i'm not sure I get the quality that you were giving even couple of weeks ago, and given how others are progressing as we speak, I suggest you take that as a wake up call.

Hi Nik Payne (Gamma design), any response to the above? One more think that is annoying: despite the fact that I set up the base font size to be larger, I still get every now and then slides with a font that is minuscule, and no way of increasing it even though there is space on the page. So I need to export in powerpoint and adjust manually.
Nik Payne (Gamma design)
Sophie Bertin: thanks for the feedback. In response to the text size question, basically how this works is we have something called "Scale to Fit". If you have a 16:9 card and you have a lot of content on it, it will scale down the font size regardless of what it tells you to do.
I think the solutions there would be either to disable "Scale to Fit" inside of page setup or to split it up into more cards. Now scale to fit has a number of limitations that I think we need to work on in terms of the logic but if you ever run into a situation where you're prompting it to make larger text and it's not, it's probably "Scale to Fit" that's on.
As far as the template colors, this is something we're investigating and embedding a chatbot. It's also on our radar, I guess, the ability to embed custom code more broadly, but I don't have a timeline for that quite yet
