Embeded third party content - invoke user consent before loading
D C
When embedding media (such as a Youtube link) as a site builder I should have an option to overlay a click event over the embedded item (click to load). Only after the site user clicks this button is the content fetched, including all the third party cookies.
This sounds like bad UX but it would mitigate some of the GDPR issues with requiring user consent BEFORE loading third party content, or more so sending cookies.

Thanks DC. Going to merge this into our GDPR ticket

Unfortunately this is a showstopper issue for most and should get priority.
Offload third-party tools through Cloudflare Zaraz would be an option for some that need the tracking after invoking user consent. But it's not yet plug and play and not build for regular users.

It is frustrating because we are facing a 0/1 situation... waiting for a missing feature is different compared to waiting to be able to use the website at all. Also, it would be important to understand whether the feature is coming and if it is worth waiting or whether we should just stop wishing... the product is so good, why stopping it from being successful? :) Thank you!

and it's still not resolved

As of now, there is no native or technically sufficient way to implement a fully GDPR-compliant cookie consent solution on Gamma websites. While your FAQ suggests using Google Tag Manager (GTM) to load a third-party consent tool (like Cookiebot), this approach does not solve the core problem:
GTM runs only after the page has loaded. This means that any third-party content embedded directly in Gamma (such as YouTube, Google Calendar, Steady embeds, etc.) is loaded before the visitor has given consent, and may set cookies or transfer personal data immediately.
This makes it legally risky or outright non-compliant under the GDPR and the German TTDSG, especially for any site that uses analytics, embeds, or external widgets.
For this reason, no legally cautious professional or company in the EU can use Gamma for anything beyond static, cookie-free sites. As long as there is no built-in way to block non-essential cookies and third-party content before consent is given, Gamma will be excluded from a huge part of the EU market
